The 2022 Niue Hawksbill Turtle 1 oz silver coin celebrates the 9th release of the series. It is an increasingly popular coin today in the precious metal’s community, highly sought after by investors and numismatists.
The design has been on this series of coins since 2010 when it debuted as the Fiji Taku. The coins were made for the nation of Fiji until 2013, when political discord between the two nations led the Sunshine Mint to reissue the coins.
Hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) are a critically endangered species of sea turtle, belonging to the Cheloniida family.

The obverse face contains the right profile of Queen Elizabeth II with her name nation/year of issue and face value of $2 New Zealand dollars backed by the Government of Niue. The coin holds an official legal tender status.
